The power of support: My health buddies

Discover how external support and accountability from my health buddies made my journey to 8,000 steps a day easier and more successful. Achieving health goals is not just about personal motivation; it's also about having encouragement and check-ins from those around you.

Why health buddies matter

The "Health Buddies" page emphasizes how crucial support and accountability from others are in making behavior change achievable and more effective. It demonstrates that reaching a health goal extends beyond individual motivation, stressing the importance of having someone who encourages you, checks in, and helps you stay on course.

Meet my accountability partners

For my project, "Health Buddies" refers to my classmates who provided support and accountability: Erica and Christencie. They played a significant role in helping me consistently achieve my 8,000 steps goal. While they didn't walk with me, their encouragement, check-ins, and accountability were instrumental.

The impact of social support

Knowing I had people aware of my goal motivated me to follow through, especially on days when I lacked enthusiasm. Their involvement made the process feel less solitary and more supportive. Instead of a purely individual challenge, I had companions "in it" with me, even in a small way. We facetimed at the end of each week to discuss progress and challenges.

"Having health buddies transformed my journey, making my goals feel achievable and fun."
